Dr. Eric McTureous grew up in Gainesville, Florida where he attended local schools playing youth sports and then went on to play High School basketball at Buchholz High School. After graduating from Buchholz, he suffered a serious back injury. It was this injury that shaped his future. He attended Santa Fe College and then graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science. While attending college, his coaching career began. He started coaching basketball at the age of 18 and coached at several local high schools including Oak Hall, PK Younge, and Buchholz High School. After graduating, he married his high school sweetheart and then went on to Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. He became a Doctor of Chiropractic in 2001 and is currently in private practice and owner of McTureous Chiropractic here in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. McTureous specializes in family care and sports injuries. Eric and his wife, Cheri, have two children, Jordan and Jamison. Both boys were raised in Gainesville and sports have always been a big part of the family schedule.

His passion for youth and high school basketball is unmatched. He aims to develop young athletes to their full potential both on and off the basketball court. Dr. McTureous most recently coached at The Rock School is currently coaching his 9th season at Buchholz High School, and is the Head Coach of the Gainesville Stampede, a local travel basketball team. His goal is to enforce the principles of basketball. These are teamwork, hard work, discipline, commitment, how to win, and how to lose. These principles of basketball will help you in life, not just the game itself. He is thankful to have learned from so many great coaches. He is honored to be a part of the coaching fraternity. Being a great coach takes the commitment to work on your craft every day.
