Abner Perez, a seasoned cheerleading veteran, currently serving as the Head Coach at Radd Cheer.
His passion for the sport ignited in high school, where he was a two-time state champion
cheerleader. This passion carried him through four years of college cheerleading, culminating in a
NCA College Nationals Championship.
After his collegiate career, Perez transitioned to coaching, spending many years at Central
Florida Starz and Florida Team Cheer. His coaching journey has taken him to various levels,
including two years as the Central Florida Coach and a notable seven-year stint as the
University of Florida Cheerleading Coach from 2006 to 2012. Since 2012, he has contributed to
the leadership of the FTC cheerleading program.
Perez’s expertise extends beyond competitive cheerleading. He has spent over seven years
coaching gymnastics levels 6-9 and has served as a stunt and tumbling coach for levels 1-7.
Additionally, he has honed his skills as a choreographer for both high school and all-star
cheerleading teams.
Under his guidance, his teams have achieved remarkable success, earning over 50 All-Star State
and National Championships across prestigious organizations like CheerSport and UCA. His teams
have been Summit Finalists nine times, securing three top-four Summit Finals placements and a
well-deserved Summit Championship following an undefeated season
“My favorite skill is the one-arm rewind stunt and the Arabian-to-double-full tumbling pass. Beyond the technical aspects, I thrive on the creative process of designing innovative routines. The post-season championships, where the culmination of hard work and dedication is showcased, are my favorite part of the season. When I’m not immersed in the world of cheerleading, I enjoy spending quality time with my family. A fun fact about me is that I once had the opportunity to be part of a major film alongside my team.” -Abner
